Epimedium x rubrum (barrenwort) produces flowers with raspberry pink spurs and yellow centers. It has delicate-looking, dramatic pink toned flowers that have an airy feel, making it the perfect contrast to other shade items like Hostas. Its evergreen leaves are mottled green with dark burgundy. This variety spread more readily than most other Epimediums. Prefers rich and moist soils but can take root competition and dryness from deciduous trees. Tolerant of dry shade once established.
