Cornus alternifolia (Pagoda Dogwood) is an Ontario native shrub and can also grow to be a tree. It has tiny yellowish-white fragrant flowers in flat-topped clusters in late spring. Clusters of bluish-black berries form in the summer. The glossy green leaves turn red in the fall. It forms an upright clump of tiered horizontal branching. Great for naturalized plantings or as a backdrop in a large garden or as a focal point.
