Mertensia virginica (Virginia bluebells) is a native Ontario plant that has pendulous trumpet shaped blue flowers on stems that rise above blue-green foliage.It goes summer dormant – the foliage dies back to the ground by mid-summer. Makes a wonderful addition to a woodland garden mixed with Hostas and Uvularia grandiflora.
